Proof 2 | The Deity of Christ

Description: The Greek word for worship ‘proskuneo’ occurs 40 times in the New Testament in the context of the worship of God. The same word is also used to describe the false worship of the antichrist in the Apocalypse. The word ‘proskuneo’ means to fall prostrate and in the Septuagint it is often used to denote veneration, an example of this in the New Testament being Apocalypse 3:9 where Christ is speaking of the enemies of the Church falling down before it in veneration.

Distribution: Matthew (10 instances), John (12 instances), Apocalypse (10 instances) have the highest densities. The occurances in the other books are only 1 or 2 each. 10 of the 12 instances in John are in a single chapter, chapter four, in the dialogue between Christ and the Samaritan Woman (St. Photini).
